All high school freshman Airi Hoshina ever wanted was to someday live in a cozy home with a loving husband and find joy in the little things in life. As a result, she makes it her daily mission to get to school on time because school legend has it that the longer one's non-tardy streak is, the better boyfriend one will find. But just when her daily routine is working like clockwork, an occurrence of fairy-tale proportions threatens to disrupt her grand plan.
On the way to school one morning, Airi loses her mirror—one that has been passed down to her through generations—and suddenly finds herself in a bizarre situation. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect Aram, a little boy from a magical kingdom, to have emerged from the mirror in the short time it took her to track it down!"-Wikipedia
This is, by far, the most exciting Shoujo manga I have ever read in a while. This is coming from a fifteen-turning-sixteen-year-old girl too. I used to be addicted to reading Shoujo manga when I was in sixth grade. It was like a ritual for me to get on computer after school and just go on onemanga (ooolld website) or mangafox to read it. I read so many; which means I'm pretty used to the cliche story ideas. However, this, is not really one of them. Well, it kind of is. But it's so adorably cute that I love it.
MeruPuri: The Marchen Prince is by Matsuri Hino. The woman who also created the famous Vampire Knight, WANTED, Ko no Yume ga Same Tara, and Toraware no Minoue with the first being more well-known in the otaku world. I am in love with all of her manga works. Her art style is splendid. It gives me such unrealistic ideals on guys whenever I see her drawings. I mean have you seen them? They're all so hot. Here's a preview of the guys in this shoujo manga:
Sexy huh? Yeah, I wanted to rape them too. (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.) If you have a problem with a seven-year-old getting together with someone eight years older than him, than this is not for you. It's like, DAYUM. SHE'S A PEDOPHILE. WHAT'S WRONG WITH HER? Then I realized you have to be really open-minded and consider the fact that people in Japan don't really care about the ages that much at all. Nor did England back in the old day. You would know that if you read Romeo and Juliette by Shakespeare. Romeo being somewhere in his twenties perhaps and Juliette being thirteen-going-to-fourteen. And since I'm so accustomed to things like this from Japan, and I have a pretty open-mind about relationships, I'm perfectly fine with it. Mainly because the protagonist Aram is such a cutie at seven and a hottie when he turns seventeen. :3
That's where our other protagonist Airi comes in. She's just a normal girl who happens to be related to a traitorous princess from the kingdom Astelle. So she has royal blood in her, which means she knows magic (in the end anyway). The girl has a hand mirror in the shape of a seven-pointed star passed down from her great-great-great grandmother Chrisnelle, the traitorous princess. It's also a portal to escape when the royal family is in danger. Annyyywaay, Airi is one of my favorite female protagonist I have read yet. Most of them are quite annoying to me because I feel like they're too perfect and everyone loves them. While she has some Mary Sue traits where a lot of guys fall in love with her, I still like her because she is just hilarious to read about. She's mainly a normal girl who wants a normal life and ended up getting roped into the magical world because of her ancestors, that's all.
Aahhh. This is such a beautiful story. I'm not going to give everything away because if you're actually interested in it, read it. The art is fabulous, and plot is so interesting. It has four volumes with about 22 chapters and a some extras in it. It's not too long, but not too short. It's absolutely fantastic. I love this more than Vampire Knight, and that's saying something. I EVEN SQUEALED AND BANGED MY HEAD AGAINST THE CUSHION OF MY CHAIR BECAUSE I KNOW I CAN NEVER HAVE HOT GUYS IN MY LIFE DAMN IT. AT LEAST READ IT FOR THE HOT GUYS.
Peace Out,
Eri Fuji
JUST LOOK AT THAT SEXY BITCH ARAM.
